A sudden and happy opportunity came to fruitation in my life yesterday. A little back story first: When I first started working out and lifting weights, I had the fleeting idea that I would like to eventually compete. If not compete, at least see just how much I can lift. Only issue was, I didn't really know where to start. As I posted the other day, I have joined the YMCA. Yesterday, I spoke to one of the trainers who talked to me about my goals and whatnot. After hearing what I was looking for, he informed me that the North branch of the YMCA is affiliated with the Columbus Powerlifting Club... which in turn completes at places like the Arnold Fitness Expo. So what I am saying is that my little bleep of possible powerlifting competing.... has turned into a very real opportunity.

If you’re looking for a meet I know of one that while not in your back yard it is next door (lol –more or less) it’s in Parkersburg, WV on October 6, 2012. It’s a 100% Raw Federation meet http://www.rawpowerlifting.com/ The Meet Coordinator is Tad Brown powerlifting30@yahoo.com.

I think it is very cool that you’re thinking about competing. Its really is a great time and you’ll get to meet so many likeminded people. 100% Raw is a great federation to get started in and they’re very helpful and friendly to first time lifters.

I am meeting with the Columbus Weightliftng Club Monday aternoon. They train in competitive power lifting. One of the girls (Holly Mangold) from this club/gym will be going to the Olympics. Needless to say, they must be good trainers to have someone of that talent going that far.

I am so excited to be honest.
