I've been kicking off my sneakers when I squat because I noticed the cushiony heal makes me go up on my toes and lean forward. What kind of shoes work for you when doing heavy weight squats?

puma or chucks you cant go wrong

Air force ones, Chucks , Vans . Basically anything that has a flat bottom and very little or no cushioning.

I like wrestling shoes myself

Pumas!

depends on your stance. the wider you are the flatter your soles need to be chucks, pumas, wrestling shoes, but if you have an olympic style squat with a closer stance and deeper drop olympic lifting shoes (with a slightly raised sole) keep you in a better position. whatever you are wearing just make sure that it is solid and not soft rubber that compress easily

Wrestling shoes... hands down... But goodjob on noticing that yourself.. usually alot of people have to be told that their shoes are making them lean fwd...

just go barefoot(socks), five fingers are alright too. But i would its probably more of a flexibility/balance issue.

I prefer to go bare footed, some shoes create an unnatural stance and can affect your peroneal muscles when squatting

I find good ol chucks work great.
